OTHER STUFF Among my interests outside of writing is a passion for animal welfare. I've been honored to serve as president of the board of directors for Liberty Humane Society, a shelter in Jersey City. As is the case with most shelters, Liberty Humane is grossly underfunded, while its employees work tirelessly for the sake of the thousands of cats and dogs that come through its doors each year. Liberty Humane Society Along the lines of helping dogs, Pit Bulls in particular, my business partner and I have teamed up with professional photographer, Laura Moss, to start a a new venture called Dog Park Publishing. Our mission is to showcase and celebrate the Pit Bull, through our calendars (Itty Pitties and For The Love of Pit Bulls) and other products, as a majestic, affectionate, and intelligent breed that is sorely misunderstood. We strive to fight the stereotypes facing these dogs by featuring the Ambassadors of the breed and the organizations that support them. Every dog we feature has been rescued from his or her circumstances by a reputable organization or individual. Our company, which advocates that all owners spay/neuter their dogs, will donate a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of our merchandise to pit bull rescue groups.
